Every summer, Pilgrim Congregational Church of Oak Park kindly extends an invitation for us to host the donut stand one Saturday at the Oak Park Farmers’ Market. The Church, who provides the space and all the necessary ingredients, generously offers to split the profits in exchange for our help recruiting volunteers.
This year, more than 30 enthusiastic volunteers from our community stepped up to lend a hand. Our volunteers, many of whom were covered in powdered sugar, joyfully tackled everything from mixing batter and frying donuts to coating them in cinnamon and sugar, bagging the treats, brewing coffee, and running the cash register.
Many of our core members made a trip to the farmers market to taste our delicious donuts. One of our core members, Lisa, even helped out at the coffee stand.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who showed up to support us—especially our amazing volunteers, some of whom started their shifts as early as 3:00 a.m.—and to Pilgrim Congregational Church for their generous hospitality. It was great day, and we can’t wait to do it again next year!
