Meaningful Time Makes Meaningful Friendship

Angel House is typically buzzing with the energy of community life, but once in a while, David and Meghan find quiet time. Whether the two decide to cook, listen to podcasts, or take day trips to the beach, these moments of bonding are treasured.

These moments are simple: the daily debriefs when David returns home from his day program, time spent together during David’s cook night, and car rides filled with conversation.

Recently, David and Meghan visited Montrose Beach. Sitting on lawn chairs, the pair listened to their favorite storytelling podcast, The Moth, and enjoyed the view of Lake Michigan.

“We listened to a recent episode where someone tracked down their long-lost half-sister. I don’t think David noticed me crying. Whenever I cry, David usually says, “I wasn’t sure how to comfort you.” (Which I find humorous, considering he is one of the most comforting people in community.) But he did say he found it to be an emotional episode too,” shared Meghan.

David and Meghan remind us that quiet moments can transform into spaces of belonging and become the moments we hold most dear.
