Angel House’s new core member, Iggy, loves experimenting with new dishes for the house. It’s in his nature to be a caregiver. Before living at L’Arche, Iggy helped take care of his mother, and his desire to support others continues to shine through. He enjoys browsing cookbooks for new recipes to try out and share with everyone at the house.
Iggy‘s care for others extends beyond cooking. Since joining L’Arche in December, he’s been an active supporter of his fellow core members, attending their art shows and showing up for the international L’Arche community at the Solidarity Brunch. He also spends many afternoons taking walks with core members and assistants, checking in on their well-being.
Above all, Iggy values family. He shares a close bond with his brother and cherishes his 4-year-old niece. While living in a house with five roommates has been an adjustment, Iggy has made a meaningful effort to develop friendships with his new housemates. He’s also excited to start a day program that he designed with his brother and Evangeline, Director of Care.
In his downtime, Iggy enjoys watching sports and playing video games. He’s looking forward to the warmer weather, when he’ll be able to take more walks and connect with his community. Once he becomes more familiar with the neighborhood, he can’t wait to start driving his car around town.
In many ways, Iggy’s transition to Angel House has required him to tackle a new recipe—one that requires patience, compassion, and optimism. Thankfully, he has all these ingredients in abundance. We’re excited to see what Iggy will cook up in the years ahead!
