One of our Core Members, Chris, hates the month of January. His hatred for the month stems from a combination of cold weather, grey skies and the fact that it’s too long, 31 days instead of the far more tolerable 30 day months. In an effort to cheer him up, assistants at Friendship House planned something special with Chris every day, and Evangeline, Director of Care, has made it a tradition to celebrate the end of of the dreaded month with him each year.
This year, Chris and Evangeline ventured into the city to explore the Willis Tower. They visited a museum where Chris was excited to get his picture next to the Michael Jordan exhibit as well as the Michelle and Barack Obama exhibit. Next, the pair journeyed up 108 floors on an elevator to the Skydeck. Together, the two enjoyed views of the city and took many pictures.
With the exception of a flat tire, the day was filled with smiles, delicious Coca-Cola and lots of excitement. While Chris has yet to change his views about January, his annual outings with Evangeline have always cheered him up and been something he looks forward to.
