Everyone says it, but that is because it’s worth repeating — L’arche is an incredible place. I moved here a little over two years ago for graduate school, and it is largely because of the people at L’arche that I can now confidently call Chicago my home. From bowling with Chris to playing pool with Elbert (though I usually lose in both), the core members have helped me to never forget the joys of laughter and the power of a smile. And, from Rebekah’s never-ending patience to Steve and Jeremy’s incredible sense of commitment, the assistants have provided me with a constant reminder of what true compassion should look like on a day-to-day basis.

I can easily say my move to Chicago would not have been the same without L’arche. And as the years go on, and we continue to share in each others lives, I have no doubt my future will be equally shaped by this colorful community of friends and family.
